Well then,
After readin about it here and on the SASS Wire, I broke a hand spring in one of my '75s.  Ordered replacement from VTI , made a new one with using the bobby pin trick. Put the bobby pin in the gun, everything looks ok, and seems to work. Test fire tomorrow.  ;D

How did you get the old, broken spring out of the hand? Have a couple of springs but have always had to just go with the complete assembly ,as I couldn't get the old spring out.

Are the hand springs in the Uberti '58s as cheesy as the ones in the '75s?

Flint

Same spring in the 75s..   Get the old spring remnant out with a small jeweler's screwdriver tip and a mallet, or a thin piece of spring (even the replacement spring) as a tool to drift the piece out through the crimped slot.

Weird. Seems like the '75s are more prone to hand spring breakages.

Trap,
I did just what Flint said to get the old one out. This opened the slot a bit and the new one slid right in. I used a punch and tapped the slot closed. I got rained out on the test. Try again tomorrow.
