PR,
I shoot an original Remington Model 1889 grade 2 SXS 12 Gauge.

It's neat to shoot an original hammer gun.

Mine was 30" bbls, but had a boo-boo about 2-3" down from the right side muzzle (car Door ding??? Ding H_E_dbl Hockey Sticks it was a DENT!). So I whacked her off to 19 1/4" bbls and she does her job iffen I do mine.

Looks like a Stevens. The hammers look identical to the ones on my Stevens, although yours is a box lock and mine is a side lock. Do you know the model #?

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

It is called the "riverside" made by stevens.

I'll know more when I get to hold her in my hands.

Her last owner found her with bad wood and completely redid the stock and forearm with new walnut.  The cool thing is a nice fat forearm instead of the splinter variety which will be nice for shooting the black!!!

Howdy Pony Racer,

It's either more wood or an asbestos glove. . .  My gloves are only buckskin and after some long scattergun stages the heat gets thru.

Good on ya.

Kind of like the splinter style myself. A thin leather glove works fine for me.

DJ here on the splinter - I do love the looks of the older shotguns including the splinter.

I am actualli in the process of acquiring a gun from my french brother in - law.  His granfather bought a beat up German and french sxs from the 1930's and due to problems with both guns had the french action mated with the german barrels.  The gun shoots like a dream and has a very interesting splinter forearm.

he does not shoot 16 guage and is interested in keeping her in the family - so I have stepped up to the plate.

Around Christmas I will be able to post pics.

Looks like the twin to the one I have.
Don't know much about the gun other than it is a sweet heart.
