I am going to change the front sight on my original R&S for a higher one. It´s a very small sight and hard to grip without damage it. Any of you how know if the sight is threaded or soldered? I would not damage the original sight.  ???

The front sight is threaded into the bbl. I made a taller sight for an original R & S that belongs to Tubac. I made it look like a cone and tall enough to be taken down some.

Hi, Halfway Creek Charlie
Thanks for the answer. One more question. The sight cone is very short and the base goes down the bbl. For not damage the sight did you use a special made tool to grip it ?  ::)

Well Tubac's R &S didn't have the original sight attached. all that was there was a threaded hole, so i threaded a piece of brass stock with the proper threads and threaded in a screw, then cut the sight from the stock and threaded it into the bbl. I cannot remember for sure the thread size but I believe it was 4-40. Don't hold me to that though.

I don't know if you can get the original sight out without messing it up. You might want to drill a piece of brass stock and slip it over the original sight and them silver solder it in place. then clamp onto the brass stock and remove it that way. To reclaim the original sight simply heat the brass stock and the original sight will drop out. Just a thought of how to remove the original sight without damaging it.

Hi and thanks Halfway Creek Charlie
Yes that speaks for it self. I have had just about same thoughts, welding a pin on top of the sight. That don,t damage, it will be an easy way to have the sight cleand after removing by warming and polishing it up. Well,we will see. Again, thanks a lot.

I had a orginal R&S and I made a ft sight that was offset to adj sight to shoot where it was pointed.. 4 jaw chuck or a collet with a shim on one side will do the offset.. and with a lot on and off the gun to get it fitted perfect .it will look you drilled the barrel off center.. and you can adj the sight now or put stock sight back with no mod to gun
