Gents,

Reading back through the archives, there seems to be two universal complaints with the Taylor Spencer: the sights and the trigger.  The trigger solution has been addressed here, as have, to a certain extent, the sights.  The best solution, up to now, was the excellent Smith Enterprise rear sight.  Unfortunately, the Smith is no longer in production.  So now what?  Casting about for a solution, I came across a rear sight that costs about half what the Smith did, is historically authentic, and gives a pretty darned good sight picture!  It isn't exactly a "drop in", but it isn't all that difficult...is just involves a small bit of dovetail fitting and the drilling and tapping a blind hole in the barrel.  What, you ask, IS this wonderful bit of iron?  None other than the Shiloh Sharps No. 102 buckhorn rear sight.  This is what the end result looks like.

I haven't had a chance to shoot it with this sight, so it isn't dialed in yet.  The sight picture looks good and clear.  I can't wait for a range session!!

Ya know, I have one of those laying around. I took it off my Shiloh as one can't see the front sight with this sight in place AND using a long range tang sight. Hmmmmmmmmm. This dog just might hunt.  ;)
