Metal nose caps for holsters

I remember it being mentioned, but I sure couldn't tell you where it was. I did a search, which you probably did, too, but was unable to net anything useful. As I recall, it may have been done with silver napkin rings. Perhaps one of the pards here will remember.

Yep... napkin rings, I had turned Triggersmith on to my trick.

I've also made them in brass... I lay out the pattern of a cone for the correct taper.

Sometime back I asked for information here on doing this to recreate the pair of '49Colt holsters pictured in Packing Iron. My original thoughts were directed towards some form of pressing the caps from thin sheet brass. The suggestion received was more along the lines of doing it as two pieces soldered together at seams. All I can add is that brass kick plates do not work well for material, they are perhaps to thick and/or not a good alloy to work with. I would love to try my hand at this project again later so please keep us posted of your progress.

Hobby & craft shops carry small pieces of sheet brass , easily work ... Dixie Gun Works also has Brass & German silver strips & small sheets.

laying out the cone pattern is quite easy too ... I've used Bridle rosettes as the bottoms for pommel holsters.

They were usually in services of 8,12 & 24... though you'll find just one or two in Antique Shops .. which works out...

Also try Pier One Imports I've seen Brass & silver plate style's there.

Still looking. Lots of napkin rings...I had no idea they were so popular...but haven't found exactly what I want yet.

While I have this window open, I'm looking for a good design for a belt holster to take my .32 S&W Model 1-1/2 first pattern spur trigger, break bottom revolver. (That sure is a long name for such a little pistol.)

Top notch little gun, but too big for a pocket and I really don't like shoulder rigs. Maybe a cross draw design. Dang spur trigger concerns me. How do you keep it from being pressed in / by the holster?

It won't be worn with my main match guns and will probably ride a 2" or 2-1/2" belt.

While I don't happen to have a 1-1/2, I've made holsters for the #2's. The biggest problem is NOT the spur trigger, it's the barrel latch getting pressed by the holster, unlocking the barrel! What you have to do is make the holster body big enough and to form it out so the latch isn't tripped. You should be packing the gun with the hammer down on an empty chamber, so whether the trigger is pressed isn't all that important.

Thanks, Trailrider. I probably won't be carrying it loaded at all. Most side matches I've seen have you load on line.

I'm looking for something more for show.

Having your iron open in the holster would be an "Apple Dumpling Gang" moment for sure.

Okay, I just tried to open your website and was rebuffed. Still there and I'm doing something wrong maybe???

I had contacted Ted Cash a while back and they were very interested but didn't know what the market would be, and were hoping to find a way to break into the CAS market. Perhaps the Marshal might have some ideas.

I know Nolan Sackett makes them up for holsters too. Doc
