Heads up

I may not be able to make it to the Muster. To be more specific, I may not have all the uniform parts I need and may not have enough black powder ammunition to fire the full course. Long story. A lot depends on finances. Also I've been told by a local Civil War reenactor god that I'd be welcome at a reenactment put on by another local reenactor god and I'd very much like to go. It's on the weekend before the Muster.

And the good burghers of Charm City are looking for people to work as election judges on Sept. 11. I'd very much like to do that also. Given my general health and wealth, I may not have enough energy and/or money to take off for Iowa the next day and be of much use at the Muster.

Now on the other claw, I suppose I could just show up with whatever CW uniform I can scrape together and just do whatever I can without shooting as a competitor. Much depends on how things fall out as time goes by. I just wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I may not make it, or if I do, I may not shoot as a competitor... as if that would make any difference, other than speeding things up by taking me out of the lineup  :D

If I do make it and do shoot, I think I'll be glad I didn't sell this Henry... stuffing 77 blue pills down a .58 cal. rifle-musket sounds daunting, not to mention touching them off, to say the least.  ;D

We'll take you anyway we can get you.  Could always use you as a roving uniform judge.
Civilize them with a Krag . . .

Frenchie,  I am of the opinion that if you decide to come, there will be enough of something for you to shoot the entire Muster.  The guns and ammo may not be the same from day to day or even stage to stage but there will be something. Would really enjoy your presence once again.

RattlesnakeJack

Also ... it is not imperative for competitors at Muster to be in uniform!

I've been looking forward to making your acquaintance in person .... :)
Rattlesnake Jack Robson, Scout, Rocky Mountain Rangers, North West Canada, 1885
Major John M. Robson, Royal Scots of Canada, 1883-1901
Sgt. John Robson, Queen's Own Rifles of Canada, 1885
Bvt. Col, Commanding International Dept. and Div.  of Canada, Grand Army of the Frontier

Shamrock

Frenchie,
I enjoyed meeting you at the last Muster and am looking forward to seeing you again. My guns may not be Civil War vintage, but if you don't mind using "modern" 1870 era, they are available for your use with ammo.
Regards,
Pat "Shamrock" Gannon

Kayleen

Ditto to what Shamrock said. You are welcome to use my guns, they too are of the 1870's type. You can even use  the 45-70 for shooting the buffalo or some long range if you want.

Man, oh, man... Okay, okay, I am going to try to make it, and things don't look all that dismal right now, but if I don't, you guys won't have made it any easier on me.  ;D Very, very sincere thanks. I'll keep in touch about it.

Well, no point in dragging this out, I won' be making it this time. In no particular order: a uniform vendor is letting my new frock slide so he can concentrate on getting items to his field reps, the money situation is still flakey, I've got sales of my own to deliver on, I'm going to be an election judge Sept. 11 (the Election Board is thrilled to get a Republican judge... Maryland is so blue...), and there are other things that will make this go too long.

Everybody have a great time, y'hear? Shoot straight and tell the truth ;D I'm going to work hard to make it back to the land of corn and long, straight roads next year. I might even have a whole new impression and, Lord willing, a real Spencer rifle. That would be so cool.

Peace, God bless, and drive safely, you bunch o' maniacs.
