I had 2 58's in the white. I got tired of the white SOOOOO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I put Plum Brown on them.

It will need several more coats with some steel wool work.

A good start none the least.

Mason(sorry bout the quality of the photo)Stillwell

Almost forgot I took the finish off the grips and then used (guess what ??) Balistol YE HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA ;D :D ;) :o

Seth I would love to be able to post better photos. When I look at them on my computer they are great when I shrink them the look like crap.I don't know much about photos or computers.

The Cylinders have a marble look to them. I know I have to use steel wool and buff them  and the frames down and add another coat but I am really happy with what I have here now.
I know there is promise if I put in the elbow grease LOL

Mason, I did a SXS and a vaquero with plum brown, and they both looked about like yours at first.  I did each about 4 coats, then after a judicious application of oil and 0000, I used and cleaned em a bunch and after three or so years they both look like OLD guns, with worn finish and a much more subdued brown that does in fact look a lot like the patina on a couple of my 1800's  original rifles.  Folks have mistaken the vaq for an old colt ;)  FWIW the vaq is MUCH more rust resistant  than the factory finish

MS,
Anything for a pard. That pistola is looking good and will look even better when you are finished.
Here's my first Gunslinger Remy. The pard I sold it to converted it.
As soon as I get 3 other projects done, I'm itching to build a few more Gunslingers, they balance as well or better than a 4 3/4" SAA. The bbl on this one is 4 3/4" with a folding cylinder pin, for removal to clean without having to remove the rammer latch post.

Yup Mason that's looking like a much older pistol and right purdy too.  Make sure ya post pics of the finished product.

Halfway Creek Charlie   - your '58 gunfighter is a slick looking rig but I'm not sure I could hit the target with the short sight radius.  My eyes seem to do better with longer barrels.

My eyes are not that great anymore either, but I didn't have any problems with it at CAS ranges and up to 25 yds. It is one that I shot a creamer(small Cremora) bottle at 25 yds and kept it moving till I had shot all 5 shots. That one shot better short than it did long. It had an indention under the front sight in the bore and I whacked her off. That short you could almost just point it at the CAS targets and hit them.
