Well.......
The shooting is over...we've siigned up several new NCOWS members and had close to 80 shooters this year, not bad considering where we are located and the current price of gas. It's 4:31 PM Saturday night and we're getting ready for the banquet.... Beautiful weather....you guys that didn't make it missed a great shoot.

Hey Bill,

80 shooters that is great.  You are right I have been thinking about you lucky people that are there.  I did miss not going.  It would have been better than what I had to content with at work, this week.

Tell everyone "HELLO" if you read this before they calls it a night.

Hope the Banquet goes well.

How many participated in the Original Class this year?

Bill,

I just thought about this.  How did your new 1860 1st Model Richards, shoot for you during the match?

That was something I wanted to see and hold.

Hope everyone makes it safely back home.  Be careful.

BRS---Only OCB can tell you how his '60 Richards shot. I got a chance Friday to look it over and have to say it's as close to the "real deal" as I've seen to date! If it shot anywhere near as good as it looks it's a real keeper ;D Now, if we could talk him into producing a '60 Richards kit we could afford to buy and make our own conversions............... ::)

Jerry,
The Richards performed flawlessly, not one hang up or mis-fire, and it shoots better then I can hold it.

I do have to add a 1/4" to the ejector rod, it's just a little too short. I'm gonna take some good photos of GW's original Richards at the GLF&MCO shoot the second Sunday of next month.... There are two things I want to look at on his, actually three....I want to measure his ejector rod housing too.

Now...to break down my Uberti Henry and turn it into a .44 Henry Flat Heeled Bullet chambering (except for the rim fire) then both the Richards and Henry will fire the same cartridge.

I think I may post the how-to of making a Richards recoil ring on the Conversion forum. After I look at GW's next month.

With the dimensions for both the original percussion cylinder and that of the Uberti cylinders used on their current R/M conversions, they are bigger in diameter and require a ring with the added dimensions.

That way if anyone that wants one and knows a competent machinist they'll have the information needed to have one made.

Bill,

I read your Henry postings, so I have a question.

What are you making the '''44 Henry casing''' from?  The 44 Colt or the 44 Rus.   Are you making a '''44Colt rifle''' with a flat nose bullet? or Are you going to go with a close cousin to the Henry casing?

I don't want this posting moved to the Henry site, I just am curious.  If you want to answer off board, I will delete this OT posting so no one gets mad.

Jerry,
It's my topic so I'll answer it here. I'm gonna use the .44 colt case, with a modified Bernie Knowles heeled bullet (see photos).

The bullet in the photos are cast from a mould made by Bernie Knowles and throws a .246 grain heeled bullet. After it has been modified it is closer to the weight of the henry flat.

Bernie also makes a crimper for his heeled bullets made from a lee die, I plan to purchase one of those too.
