Apache Inspired Rifle Sheath

[Mogorilla]

THis is a rifle Sheath, inspired by the Apache Saddlebags.  It is braintan buckskin, lined with red wool and hand beaded.  The beaded design was the clients design, it is not tribal.   The rifle is my 1894, but it will house a similar one.

Brain tan was interesting to work with.  It is pretty stretchy.  The design is an equilateral triangle, with a sigma inscribed and an integral sign.  He is a mathematician.  I got the hide from Braintan.com, great people to work with.  After smelling smoke for a while now, it may be a while before I go for bbq though.

very nice work. love the red trim work.
when working with brain tan dunk it in a bucket of water. and then nail it to a board or lace it in a frame to stretch it. this will take a good bit of the strecthyness  out of it, as well as "tone" down the smoke smell.
