On my Rem '58,,,

as you know,,un-like a Colt, the cylinder on a Rem only has the locking notch,,,,no 'guide' leading into the notch...so...

is it abnormal to have a 'mark' on the cylinder of a Remington were the bolt comes up to touch ? the 'mark' would be in the guide on a Colt,,,,but since the Rem doesnt have this,,,is it abnormal ?

It seems timed good,,cylinder to cone alignment is perfect,,all other things seem just hunkie dory,,,just curious about this.

Thanks guys,

Marshal Deadwood  *who really does love the Remington

A mark right where the Colt lead cut would be is exactly where you want the bolt to drop.  If it drops sooner, you will ring the cylinder, if it drops later you will get overtravel if you cock too fast.
