Any 44-40 Spencer owners out there, what is your experience with the gun.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Armisport Spencer in 44-40?  Does the Lane extractor work well?  Is there any problems with feeding or jamming?  Are there any parts that work loose or need constant attention such as screws or springs?  Does the magazine fowler go in and out easily.  I am thinking of getting the carbine and was just wondering, any help would be appreciated.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a handsome, and well preserved body; but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming...."WOW!... What a ride!"

Got my 44-40 Carbine today and it seams to cycle well.  Won't get to shoot it until at least next week.  I will let you know.

Major,

I am looking forward to a report as this has been an item that I have been thinking about.

I had a chance to take it out last weekend at an N-SSA shoot.  I put up a target at 50 yards and got it to hit paper 18 out of the 20 shots I fired.  This was off hand just as it came out of the box.  Heavy trigger pull and no site adjustments.  I have been playing with blanks all week but the live fireing looks promising too.

Major,

Thanks for the reply, I have been contemplating buying one but did not know how well they work with the 44-40 as it was not the original cartridge for the weapon.
