In a copy of the 1887 Merwin Hulbert & Co catalogue, the large frame pistol in M&H .44 calibre is listed as for
"the Mexican trade". The revolver in .44/40 is listed as for "the frontier trade". Interesting bit of trivia.

In the McDowell book on Colt conversions and the Pate book on S&W Americans there are many records for Wexell & DeGress who were the main jobbers for Mexico & South America. I mean they bought a LOT of guns.  ;)
