Thinking about a RM CONVERSION IN 44 SPL.
I know all the good points about them( handling, natural pointer and all around fine looking gun!) from shooting a 1860 cap and ball.
NOW  !!! I want to know all the bad points about the RM conversions.
I own a couple of SAA Uberti"s and a 1875 Remington in 45 that are great shooters.
Can I expect the same troble free shooting with the R M?
thanks for any info

I've had two, now I've got one, the other got sent back to cimmeron after test firing, haven't gotten it back yet.  Seems the quality is like the percussion, some good, some not so good.  Hard to say with only two purchased.

All said if you get good ones, no problems from crappy workmanship, they have the same action as the 73 colt, and are a site easier to clean barrel and cylinder.  Wouldn't be as good for say pistol whipping someone, or hot loads, but for everyday shooting there's no reason they'll not be trouble free.  You may ocasionaly wear a wedge out or break a spring like with the 73's.  Other than the two piece barrel/frame/wedge asembly there basicly the same gun as the peacemaker.  And surprisingly accurate.

Can only confirm Will's experience: have one RM Army from 2002 production which means short cylinder/long cone, in .44 Colt. Except that it is shooting 5" high at 25 meters and one lost front sight after approx. 500 rounds, which was easily replaced, no problems and quite accurate. As with other replica pistols minor polishing of the "intestines" helps smoothing the action, deburring the cylinder block prevents the ring around the cylinder.
Uberti installed the newer, period correct longer cylinder and adjusted the cone accordingly last month free of charge. Nice & responsive guys. This alteration didn't affect POI or accuracy.
You will enjoy shooting the RM Army.

Deadeye Don

I will let you know as soon as my RM army (44 colt) comes in at Taylors.  I am still waiting.  They are real scarce now in the states.  Safe shooting.  Deadeye.

Howdy Willy,
Just FYI, Cimarron currently only has the .44 R-M in 5 1/2" and charcoal blue.

Also, while the Opentop is available in both .44 Colt and .44 Spcl, the R-M is only available in .44 Colt.  Some cylinders will chamber the .44 Spcl as-is, some won't by a tiny bit.  But Cimarron does have a .44 Spcl reamer and can ream the cylinder before shipping.  Or if you buy used or from another source, there are gunsmiths who can do the same thing inexpensively (Lonnie Ammann of Tejas Long Rifles, for instance) and you can just ship them your cylinder(s) to save money.  Good luck.
