Just a quick question to you folks who own and shoot 2nd generation Colt Navy revolvers.  Do they shoot to point of aim or close at 25 yards?

Thanks,

No, they shoot high.  All the Colt revolvers shoot high.  I found the Colt Navy needs a front sight about 1/4 inch tall, a Colt Army needs a front sight about 5/16" tall.

They were factory sighted to about 75 yards, some say 100 yds.  The point being to hit a horse as far away as possible to get the rider on the ground.  Once fighting got closer, point shooting was good enough.
