Finally had the chance to shoot an original 500gr Big Lube at 1000 Yards!

There's this 48" x 64" Steel Buffalo named Homer at Ridgeway Rifle Club in PA standing out there at 1000 yards

Took 10 rounds ,among many other recipes, loaded with 65grs of Meteor Powder (vintage 1971) and started walking them to Homer.  Three 'no cigars but close' and Three Klangs.

And ... the rifle was my H&R Buffalo Classic - not my Pedersoli.  Vernier setting - 229 MOA

That one's a keeper John Boy.  The original 500 grain bullet does fly well.  Just to let you know, there may be some daylight at the end of a very long tunnel concerning the Mark II 500 grain design.

I don't want this to get out of hand, but there just could be some all steel genuine Big Lube™ molds made.  I just can't say more than that, but if it comes to pass, each mold will come with a serial number and an engineer's guarantee.

There, I've said too much already.

OK, Dick - I kept quiet like you asked.  ;)

I hope you get word soon.

Glad to hear that you could get good accuracy out of the old MKI. I had excellant results with it accuracy wise, but I never could get that much powder under the thing. At least in a 45-70 case. Which is one of the reasons fer the MKII design.

DD, let me know asap on the steel version of the MKII. I've been pinching pennies for a Snakebite mold but it might take the back burner if a steel version of the that MKII becomes a reality!!!!!!!

Cuts, forget about shooting this bullet at 1,000 yds. It'd take an ol' fart like you a week to just walk downrange!  :o ;D ;)

Cuts watches his targets on a closed circuit television.  The trick is to not hit the camera.
