Ottawa Creek Bill

Well I finally got my new horse barn started this past weekend, the rainy weather here in Indiana has kept me from building this barn (my third), but we got a break and we are going to finish setting the remaining posts this afternoon. Once the posts are set, the framing goes pretty fast. I figure it'll take me another month (too many things going on right now to finish it in a week) to finish it.

The drawing shows what it will look like when finished. The barn will have two 12 foot horse stalls on the south end, and will look like an old timey Livery. I'll be moving all my machine tools into the new shop that will look like an old time Marshall's office when completed...It's all wood except for the metal roof. Hope you like it....I know my horses will....

Joss.....I don't know?? I've got one that would make it through the seventh grade and probably pass the ISTEP, that's more then most kids can do in the Indiana school system.....

QuoteDid ya find the side saddle Joss?
Uh....wasn't really looking for a side saddle since I don't use them........besides, I was too busy counting the boards in that barn...

Delmonico

Why didn't I think of counting the boards, guess I'm not building a barn. ;)  Wern't no grocery stores to peek in the window of.

It is simple Joss, if you are paying to have a photo taken of your livery stable to hang on the wall in your office are you going to have the horses inside out of site or are you going to take them outside.  We know what this fella chose. ;)

BTW even though he sold the neagatives later, it is well know Butcher also charged for these photos when he took them, it is how he made his living. ;)

Most livery stables hat an office with a stove and a sandbox or cuspidor to spit in, it is where guys who hand nothing else to do sat away and whiled away the time on cold days.

Ottawa, glad you finally got started on it!  I like the concept...sounds like it's going to be pretty neat!

OT, James and all,
I don't know if you noticed in my drawing of the finished barn but it will have a covered boardwalk....and it will have a couple of hitching posts out front. We can all set around and laze away the summer drinking mint juleps...yummy ;) ;) We could even stage a couple of gun fights
