Curius about a buckle i bought some twenty years ago.
Should i be proud or does everybody have one?
On the front it say's "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show" and "Jubilee" 1887
and on the bakside it say's "Official Souvenir 1892"
Might it be from the european tour of this show?

I am doubting is it from "Buffalo Bill's Wild West" because as far as I know Buffalo Bill didn't refer to it as a "show". But, I will see if the NE Buffalo Bill has any incite on the subject.

Howdy all,
my best guess is that it is not a souvenir from the Wild West itself for the reason Slim already stated. I've got a book that I can refer to for such items, but won't get to look for it till this
d _ _ _ play "Annie get your gun" is over. It's like I've taken a second job that takes up more time than my real job and it'll never happen again. We (Holly and I) are at the playhouse every night from 6 to midnight and eight hours each Saturday and Sunday. We're in the last few days of dress rehearsals and then start for real on Sept. 1st. Then, at least we'll get two days a week off for the duration of the run. No wonder Cody started the Wild West. Just to get away from the stage I'd bet. Thanks for enduring my rant. I feel better now. I'll dig up the reference soon as I can. In the mean time Qball, I can save you waiting in suspence by offering you $1 cash money for that buckle right now.  ;D 'Course you'd need to pay the shipping. Take care.

Just a thought, is there any names or anything on the back side, might be a clue as to who made it and when.

Official souvenir 1892 is the only text on the backside.
However i ebayed it and found this.
("You are bidding on a Vintage Belt Buckle featuring "Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show-'Jubilee" 1887" from Wyoming Studio Art Works. It is a heavy weight metal composition in a brass tone finish. The buckle measures 3 5/8" wide by 2 3/8" high. The back of the buckle has a metal beltloop to fit up to a 1 3/4")
The picture was of an identical buckle frontside but different backside.
Mine has a broad hook and the ebay version has a round pin to hook the belt.
And thank you for the super fast answering

One of the vast number of fakes made - starting in the latter 1960's and continuing on.

They made spurious 'Winchester', 'Colt', '7th Cavalry', 'Airship', 'Balloon' and many, many others for the then-new flea market 'industry' that was popping up across America.

They still make them - they show up in various 'catalogs' for that 'trade'.

Fake buckles are okay as long as you don't pay original buckle prices. ;D
