1875 Remington cylinder proof marks

My EMF '75 Remmie's cylinder has two uh ... dents in it. Well, they look like dents, but now I'm thinkin' they might be proof marks. Has anyone else noticed this on the 75s? I see the proof marks on the barrel, but I'm not sure about the cylinder.

I just saw an 1890 Remmie in Guns of the Old West magazine, and it had proof marks on the cylinder also.
