Having recently received two out of the first shipment to the U.S. in .44 Colt (BHA) I will share my thoughts. One was nice, albeit it needed a few licks with a stone on the sear and the front sight was missing  ???. The other had a gap underneath of at least 1/8" where the ejector is fitted through the percussion rammer hole. Cimarron exchanged it for another that is perfect as well and sent a sight for the first, but the sight was poorly finished and when mounted was lop sided. Oh well. I like this gun so well I ordered a third and it was a total loser. Conversion ring loose, arbor loose & the gun actually rattled when you moved it!! I sent it back to Cimarron and am awaiting their judgement. Now before anyone blames Cimarron let me state I feel the lack of QC at Uberti is because we shooters have demanded more & more and they are probably stretched pretty thin. Cimarron is just the importer.  ;)  Also, Uberti is the only game in town making these so let's not look a gift horse in the mouth.

I finally shot the one good one (with front sight) last Friday at 10 yds. All loads were .44 Colt, 25 gr. FFg & 205 gr. bullet. The gun shot a great group but unfortunately all shots were high about 3 - 4 in. & left about 2 - 3 in. Not good with a fixed sight weapon. The ejector is next to worthless as Uberti did not copy the longer rod of the original that extended past the wedge. I had to pry shells out with my fingernails. Also, the water table needs polished as the cylinder has drag marks from rotation.

In conclusion, I like the gun but it needs a little work. I am having a machinist make me a longer (correct) ejector rod and am contemplating sight regulation methods.

That's a pity Kid  :-\
As you know, I have waited a long time for my Type 2... first ordered in Feb 06...
I waited all summer and like others heard their famous another 60 more days E-mail line from Marcy @ Cimarron.
I spoke with Charlie Hudson at Shot in Jan. and he said they expected them "maybe when he got back " from Orlando.
A follow up Email to Marcy gained me the knowledge "I was # 6 on the list" ???

Well ...Several of you pards have the guns ( Kid your on your forth ?)
two Emails to Cimarron ( Marcy ) have gone unanswered .. My FFL who is a Cimarron outlet and the agent that ordered mine has heard nothing from Cimarron about my early order..... :-X

So I guess, My gun is a will 'o' wisp..... :-\

ON the bright side though.. in the interim time, (almost 2 years )  I found and bought two TYPE 1's  I'm happy...

disappointed in Cimarron though  :(

Howdy FCK,
I saw your Richards II at Cimarron today and yes it is most definitely sub-par.  They are sending you a new one, not sure if it went out today or not.  Hope it's a winner!

Major 2,
You might have stated before what model of the Richards II you are waiting on, but I'm not sure.  I'm guessing you must have ordered a 5 1/2" barrel. Cimarron has not received any of those (well, they got an Uberti shipment today but I dojn't know what is on it).  Models with 8" barrels are all in stock (almost out of 45LC though, but I think all backorders of that caliber were filled).

I'm only there part time, but sometimes I see stuff  ;D

My original order dated in Feb of 06 was for a 8", I never considered a 5 1/2" and at that time only 45 was to be offered...
and so ordered.
I spoke to Marcy in May , July & again in Oct  of 06 via email and I was told " another 60 day's "or in OCT after the first of the year..
I handled the only example at Shot in Jan 07. in Orlando , and spoke to Charlie Hudson , he told me they "might' be in when they got home.
They weren't...again I emailed Marcy about my order in Apr. 07. to confirm I was still on the list .
She responded, that I was # 6 ....I'm not so naive to think that meant it was the 6th gun..
I understand others ordered pairs or several pairs , larger orders would be filled.. perhaps I was # 6 of the single pistol orders.
I emailed Marcy again when rumors of the 5 1/2's (read here) were in stock , again to re-affirm my 8" 45 LC original order.
She did not respond...
Rather than be pest, I waited until I heard something concrete , either from my FFL or Cimarron . nothing happened.
I read here the guns were in and being received also 44 was now an option...I contacted Marcy via email  about my Feb.06 order just before Thanksgiving and stated a 44 cal. would work just as well.
She did not respond nor has she to date ( I know it was read via auto receipt feature)   ... nor Cimarron have informed my FFL of my gun being shipped...though other not related orders have been placed & arrived .

As I said,  the LONGGGGGGGGG ( 22 months) wait offered me a chance to locate and buy my two Type I 's in the mean time. One a Kenny Howell the other a USPFA, up till then I had nothing in 44. hence the 44 cal. change of heart.
Both Guns are customs and are more unique, I'm quite pleased.

Still, one day I would like all the variations on the 1860... a Long Cylinder & and the Type II Richards.

Thought I'm disappointed in Cimarron, I'm not angry , balls are dropped or fumbled ..... perhaps the caliber issue was the cause though it was an "either or" as I shoot both Calibers.

Firstly, thanks Abilene!! I talked to Kirk yesterday & he said he's sending out another.  ;)

Well, I took the one that shot high & left to my 'smith and the first thing we did was chamfer the forcing cone. Man!! It was rougher than a cob!! I highly recommend ANY revolver have its forcing cone chamfered as it helps accuracy, prevents bullet "shaving" and leading as well as aids powder combustion IMO. He also gave a few "licks" to the sear and stoned a high spot on the inside of the frame right behind the bolt. Finally, he stoned the firing pin down a bit as it pierced primers. The timing was dead nuts on already. I shot it today and Hallaleuja!!  :)  Right in there!! I also "fiddled" w/ the wedge screw a tad turning it a hair farther in. She's now a shooter!! The only complaint, as I addressed before, is that the ejector rod is worthless as it is far too short. I'm having a machinist make me some rods about 0.65" longer per originals.

I really like this gun. It has style. Sure, it needed a little "tweaking" but I actually sometimes enjoy this as it's rewarding when everything comes together.  ;)
