Did anyone of you know how many Volcanic rifles they made? And what the production timeline was?
I searched the web,but can't find any numbers.
So, any suggestion?
;)

According to my old "Flayderman's" they made approximately 3200 between 1857 & 1860.

1857 doesn't sound quite right. 1857 is when S&W left the companty to go start their own company. Off the top of my head I'd say more likely they started around 1854. Of course, I could be wrong. After Winchester became the mover and shaker in the company, they kept producing Volcanics right through the time that Henry was perfecting his design. I can probably find a slightly more definitive answer at home in one of my books.

P.S. Here's a quick synopsis I found on the web:

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Volcanic pistols and carbines (pistol w/removable stocks) were made from 1854-60.

Rifles from 1857-60.

I like that idea.  Considering sme modern weapons are using caseless ammo, why not an "improved" Rocket Ball?

Do ya think an "Improved Rocket Ball" would knock over a steel target?  :o  ::)  ;D

Gotta be as powerful as some of those light gamer .38 loads!  ;D

I would like to have a Volcanic pistol.  It might be made in 38S&W, if not the "Rocket Ball" without being oversized in scale.  Be nice in 44 Russian too, but probably make the frame too large.
