Help Please.

I just had the back starp and trigger guard for one of my Pietta 1851 Navys nickel plated.

In the plating they let some nickel get into the screw holes so I need to re-tap them before I can put it back together.

Can anyone tell me what size metric tap to use for the Main Spring Screw hole and the Front Trigger Guard Screw hole.

Thanks for any help.

I don't know the size, but it would be easy to figure out by taking the screw to a good hardware store & finding a mating nut. They might even have the metric tap there.

Luck to ya!

If you get the tap....get the "bottoming" tap also.

 :)

Thanks for the help.

Got it done and working.

Size turned out to be metric 5mm-80, but I have another 51 Navy Pietta that the MainSpring screw hole measures as standard 10-24.

Go Figure?

Again thanks for the help.
