Early Colts had the wedge with the sping...I 'think' by '62, in the 'pocket' models ,,, the wedge had the cut head screw and slot But, im wondering were,,on what model,,,or,,what year,,,etc,,,did the wedge change ?
It seems by the time conversions came, the sping loaded wedge was gone and it was cut screwhead and slot totally ????

Got any imput on this guys ?

There is no set date. I've seen 1872 Open Tops in the #3000 range with percussion wedges and serial #'s lower with the newer non-spring wedge. I think there was a huge bin that contained old & new and both were used until the old style ran out. Colt (as every other maker) threw away nothing, hence overlaps in wedges, frames, grips, etc.
