DATELINE: May 21, '07
With crosswinds gusting up to what seemed like 20 plus mph and coming from all 4 directions at once, the Guys that shot the 'Strand's Stand Mid & Long Range' last weekend certainly put their Soule's to work!
Coming from all over the upper Midwest they had a great weekend of shooting with target selection ranging from 200-750 yards on the Mid Range Match and 800-1,000 on the Long Range. The Match Director and his crew put on a fine Shoot and used lifelike coloration for all the targets; dark brown to black for the Raccoon, grey for the Wolf, dark brown for the Bear, reddish-brown for Deer, a white Ram with black curled horns and a 7' tall brown Prairie Dog at 750 yards called 'Ol Gabe that was a most challenging target as he seemed to be changing colors as the hours passed!
Sunday's Long Range event was 800-1,000 yards at a full-size Buff painted with a black cape and hump and brown  body with NO circle for reference! The swiftly passing clouds and a wind coming from over our shoulders took the steam out of some and put the burr under the shooting pads and blankets of others. Seasoned Shooters swore their cartridges had developed a disease of some sort overnight and that it was most certainly affecting their aim, the rest of us just shook our heads and groaned, HAH! All in all a fine time and a challenge to put a pill on-target in tough wind conditions!
Please refer to the CVR website listed below for winner information.
Thanks to Jay & Karen Weber for a great event and Kayleen for her outstanding grub; Fried Chicken for lunch on Saturday and Grilled Burgers on Sunday, and with all the trimmings including her delicious sweet treats, it was yummy!
