Any way to find out if it is one of the Hawkins conversions

   Greetings!

   I believe that J.P. Gemmer either stamped his barrels with his name, or with an old S. Hawken stamp; see Marcot. It seems that he wasn't the only one making conversions, either.
   I think a certain Italian Manufactory should make us a "Buffalo Spencer", like this one, in 56-50. They should also NOT make the mistake of calling it a Gemmer Spencer, as another company has copywrited the name, if you can believe that!

It strikes me it would be relatively easy for a competent gunsmith to make a modern version.  All that's lacking is money
