I like to buy a pair Open top by Cimarron in .38 Special and I'll shoot b/p with them. I already have a pair Peacemakers in .45LC. I love the looks of the Open tops. Does anybody have the Open Tops? I like to know somthings about them.

I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

I have a pair in 44 Colt.  Very light hammer and trigger, smooth action with perfect timing.  Very accurate.  Beautiful pistols, too.  They're light and point well even with 5 1/2" barrels.  Recoil is quite manageable as they simply roll up and place you're thumb ready to cock again.
Don't know about .38.  The 72 came in 44.  I'd do 38 in a 51 or 61 conversion.

I've got 2 1872's in 7 1/2" .44spl
Love them....Love them...Just ordered 2 more, but with the 4 3/4"

find a 1873 short rifle in .44spl I'd be set.

Cousin, I have a pair of Cimarron 1872 opentops in 38 special and I truly love them.  They don't really need to be aimed,  just pointed like your finger and they do great that way for CAS. I like them so much I took a Pietta 1851 and  http://www.kirstkonverter.com/colt.html  and did this to it looks good and shoots good and is a one of a kind that I built. Makes me feel like one of the oldtimers when I shoot it!  ;D Plus the pride of rolling my own revolver like my own ammo!
Cousin we been ashooten at each other all day! How about we stop for a beer then we kin go home and get our axes. Or just as good, lets forget this whole dang feud, I'm agetten too old for this anyhow!

I have a pair in .44 Spl.  Love 'em.  As others have pointed out, they point so naturally you almost do not have to aim.  But I would agree with one post: if going .38, get the RM conversion.  More authentic that way IMHO.

Sir Charles deMouton-Black

Authenticity.  That's why I opted for the '51 RMs.

I decided to go .45 Schofield for my Open Tops, because my reloading been set up for .45LC. I'm sure some of you pards have .45 Schofield Open Tops. Huh?

Major 2

yep !  one OT in 45 Sch.
also a 2nd gen. Colt 1860 w/ an R&D conversion, it shoots Black Hills 45 Sch.  POA at 7 yards and less than 1 " low at 50 feet.
and Type II in 45 on order ( it will see 45 Sch as a steady diet )

Nine Toe Jim

I have an 1872 OT & a RM conversion both in 45 Schofield. I like the round and have been shooting it out of my cattlemen also. ;D I'm also set up for 45 colt which swayed my decision for the Schofield round.

I have Opentops in 44Special and 44Colt (one each), and usually shoot 44 Russian cartridges in them.  The 44Russian is a perfect black powder round for CAS as the recoil is low and is already a light load, it doesn't require a filler or wad as would the 44Special or 44Colt.  It still makes lots of smoke and flame, and doesn't foul as much as a fully loaded 44Colt or Special.

I can shoot the Opentops with black powder cartridges through an entire match without fouling stoppages.  I attribute that to the cylinder's integral gas ring, which keeps the fouling away from the cylinder arbor.  I use Black Dawg bullets and about 18 gr of ffg.

Yo can also get your 66 or Henry modified to shoot the .44 Russian.  Now you are just a c-hair [blond] away from the original FT Henry RF round.  ;D
