Barrel Finish Differences?

Just out of curiosity, I was wondering about how some interior barrel finishes look a little more rough, or dull, than others.  Does this matter?

Capt. John Fitzgerald

Greetings Doc,
Don't think that "dull" would make any difference but if, in fact, the cutting of the lands and grooves left "rough" edges, that would have an effect.  There is a big difference between "dull" and "rough."  Could you be a bit more specific?

Some barrels have a very shiny, chrome like finish.  Some have a more matte looking finish.  I am not referring about the Rifling itself.  Just the lack of that very shiny and mirror like finish.

Got it!  Don't think it makes any real difference.  I have several old handguns with bores that no longer have that "chrome-like," refective surface and they shoot just fine.

Thanks.  I was trying to get caught up on my periodical cleaning, and was able to notice a difference.
