The ejector on my 94 has broken rather than replace the ejector the gunsmith in my club reckons to weld it is a better option, he's done it before and found the fix lasts longer than the replacement.  Has anyone else had this problem?
I've ordered a new one anyway in case his fix doesn't work.
Now wondering if I should trade it in and get a Marlin, as they seem easier to work on and less problematic.

St. George

I've owned a Trapper since they first came out and have never encountered any problem with internal parts.

Parts can and do break - and for a myriad of reasons - but I'd replace the part before I'd weld it - especially if you think you'll swap or sell the piece.

The next guy will want it in pretty close to 'stock' configuration.

Replace the part and then go lookin' for a Marlin, or a '92, or a '66, or a '73. The '94 Winnie is not a user freindly piece for SASS main match competion. For side matches in the original calibers it was meant for, it's a pretty good piece.
In the '92's check in with Nate Kiowa Jones down Texas way, he can make a '92 really sing. One of those with his action work isn't all that pricey compared to the '66 or '73.
I use Marlin's exclusively and have had pretty good luck with them. They are easy to take down for cleaning too. One screw and clean from the chamber end. Have 4 newer 1894 Marlins and an 1889 that are used here for CAS as well as an 1893 that I use for side match work.....................Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

The ejector is actually broken in two areas so a repair is out of the question, still waiting for a new ejector from your side of the pond.  Any other part via the main stockist in UK - BWM is available.  BWM tell me they sell at least 60 per yr for the .357, but a mere 5-6 for the .44 version....Hhhhhhhmm strange.

Looked at a friend's Marlin yesterday 16 inch barrel, ported and stipplling on butt and forend.  He cant recal what model it is, I like this but there is something about my Trapper that the aforementioned doesn't have.  The Winnie Trapper just FEELS right, points perfectly and has a character of its own.  Yes the Marlin is certainly built better and can be worked on easily.  However if I can find a Marlin without the ported barrel and without the stippling and a 16 inch barrel version I will be very tempted.

Howdy Sundance,
My first CAS rifle was a 45LC 94 Trapper.  I broke two extractors (I'm guessing you meant extractor, not ejector?).  I ordered the parts from Winchester and replaced them myself.  It was a real pain in the rear to work on.  That's about all I can tell you.  I've long since sold that gun and moved on to '66 and '73's which are much better for CAS.  The 94 would have made a good brush gun or something like that, small and light and accurate, plus it can handle hot hunting loads which the toggle-link guns can't.  Good luck!

Nope, Abilene ejector part; 01u341850310 looking at the sales invoice now.  Called BWM ARMS LTD today here in the UK, and they tell me the part is in transit - on a boat on its way from your side of the pond.  However the gunsmith tells me you can use a .44 Winnie extractor (basically the same part) it just needs a ramp filing on it so it will eject .357 cartridges, he's done this before with complete success and all it takes is a couple of minutes filing.  I called the guy who works on my guns explained this to him and he says he'll give it a go and can see no reason this won't work.
Every day swaying more for a nice easy to fix yourself Marlin.............
