Howdy to the camp.

Its a tough job, but someone has to do it!

In addition to my personal forged frame 1858 Uberti and 1858 Uberti factory 45 Colt conversion, I now have three 1875s from EMF to do a "Choose your flavor" article on the 1875s.  (Showcasing calibers, barrels, and finishes available.  I have .45 Colt Antique 5 1/2", and (2) 44-40s - 5 1/2" and 7 1/2" blued!

I wish I could keep them all, but that would leave me paying for the three article Remingtons.

On one hand, I am inclined to keep my 1858 gated conversion, and just buy the .45 Colt antique (its a tack driver!).  On the other hand, since I am picking up my 44-40 Marlin Century Ltd. next week, the pair of 44-40 looks good!  Then I would have to sell my gated conversion and either send back or sell the 45 antiqued.  Ugh!  Too many choices.

Now if you had a nickled .45 with a 7 1/2" barrel I might be able to help you out of your predicament. ;D

Ditto on the sucks to be you thing, again.
But, I am thinking , somehow they must like you, and you probably desereve it, so it's all good, right ?
As much as I hate hearing about it all the time, I am envious of your position though. And I really don't not like hearing about it, but good God Almighty your one lucky man !

Cheers, enjoy, and it must be nice to be King?

Cheerios and Fruitloops to ya, Sincerely, Stacey Lee ;D

Howdy to the camp,

Being a staff writer and primary firearms evaluator for the Cowboy Chronicle is a GREAT job. I get to play with most of the new toys and see which I like best.  Sometimes it is hard to decide what I want to "Keep" as my own guns, though!  That's why I frequently shoot different guns at my matches. It can be kinda frustrating, though, as I would like to keep them all!

I have used a Henry for most of my 13 years in SASS, though I have changed from 44-40 to 45 to 44-40 again, and had both brass and steel frame. I have been using a 56-50 Taylor's Spencer carbine since they were made SASS legal, it is my favorite! The Henry has become less important since I obtained the Spencer, so I ended up selling the Henry to get my hands on another Century Ltd. Marlin (good for my alternate 1890s persona).

All that is certain is that I will probably go through as many guns as a car salesman goes through cars, I guess!

Howdy PardS,

Well I was all set to do it, but I just talked to Tammy at Taylors and found out I am getting the 7" .45
Schofield I had back ordered!  I guess I will keep the .45 1858 conversion and sell the three 1875s.

The 44-40 1875s: 7 1/2 & 5 1/2 will be unfired, and will be $350 plus $10 priority mail and insurance to your FFL

Light springs I think are $15 extra (I will check on thet). I have two.

The 5 1/2" Antique 1875 45 Colt. Is fired.  It is dead on, and shoots really tight groups at POA at 10-15 yards.  It's $410.00 plus $10 Prioprity US Mail and Insurance.

If they don''t sell, they will just go back to EWMF after I am done with them for the article.

Major thanks, I'll need to sell something at the shoot Saturday to be able to afford it. I just upped to SASS Life and spent another $450 on my dogs (one came back positive for heartworm...man that's expensive treatment.)

Here's a photo of the two 1875 44-40 blued and the antiqued 45 Colt 1875 that I got from EMF for the article.

The 45 antiqued has been fired (less than 25 rounds, and the 44-40 as of yet are unfired.  If I don't find them homes, I will send them back after writing the article.  The Antiqued in $400 including priority mail to FFL and the blued will be about $350ish with Priority mail.  I also have two of the EMF light springs that dramatically improve the action.  They are about $15 each.

The close up is of the antiqued 1875 45 Colt.

I am keeping my Uberti forged frame 1858, my Uberti .45 Colt 1858 gated factory cartridge conversion, and my new .45 Colt Wells Fargo 5" Schofield.
