I have been remiss in not formerly introducing myself to one and all here on the GAF forum. I am just getting into this sport and have not begun to get any equipment nor been to a shoot yet. I am currently reading and getting as much information as I can on the impression I am most interested in,  light artillery 1898 time frame.  Stop salivating Grapeshot!!! I plan on attending a SASS shoot nearby in Sept. There are not any NCOWS shoots nearby to where I live,( tidewater area of Va.) As I gain more information I will be able to make purchases at my own pace to work up to the impression I have chosen. I am intending to join GAF in the furture. I enjoy the military history of the Victorian Era and the weapons as well. I have always been drawn to uniforms. I guess my profession as a police officer would be a clue. I do want to congratulate all of the members of the GAF. I have been to quite a few web sites and read posts from members and non-members and I have never found a more friendly, helpful group of people. You all are the best recruitment ad the GAF could have, its people. Thanks for allowing me to join in the conversations and hopefully I will be among your ranks as a member very soon. I will try not to become a nuisance with questions of all of you RE;  weapons, clothing, accoutrements, etc....

Dr. Bob

Welcome aboard Eagle Eyes,

We are an all volunteer organization, so it may take a bit for your name to be added to the roster, but, when you completed and sent the enlistment form, you became a member.  Congratulations!!  Don't be hesitant about asking questions.  You will usually get the "real skinny" quickly and lots of us will learn something too! ;D

Welcome!

SASS is a great place to start.  I started in SASS before I knew about NCOWS, and GAF didn't exist.  Remember, if you want to remain authentic, just keep your own standards up like what is found in NCOWS and GAF.  SASS will certainly give you a place to play!   ;D
