Hungry Wallace

Hi to you all.

Im new here in this forum.

And im from sweden and sorry 4 my bad english. But hope that you can understand me anyway.

I have a original 1892 in a modell i never have seen before.
It´s a take down modell in caliber 44-40. And to the licens number (???) it´s made
late 1894.

Where can i find out how much this rifle is worth, and if i made a god deal???

Regards / Hungry Wallace CAS shooter in sweden.

Old Top

Hungry Wallace,

Taylors is offering a 92 take down model for around 850.  I have one and it has been working quite nicely.

Old Top
I only shoot to support my reloading habit.

Thanks.

Then it almost the same that i gave for it.

Hungry Wallace:

If I understand your question correctly, your rifle is an original, manufactured in 1894, NOT a reproduction.  Of course, much depends on the condition of the rifle, but if it's in Very Good or better condition, I'd guess that it is worth double what the reproductions are listing for; and much more than that in Excellent condition.  You might want to look at one of the big gun auction websites and compare similar rifles to yours, in order to get a better idea of its value.  Some suggestions for websites to check might include:

I saw an original Winchester .44WCF M-1892 24" takedown recently that was maybe 50% blued & the wood was only fair for $2000 USD.  It sold very quickly!

And don't apologize for your English.  You do better than me & it's my only language, Pard.

Thanks for your wise words.

The rifle is an original and made late 1894 what we could find out to the licensnumber. It´s NOT a reproduction.

Mustang Gregg....

Dont`t know what a "John Wayne wanna-be thing" is for you........

But for me........ I dont shoot so fast whit it....... I prefere my 1873 in 38 sp. Uberti whit a 20" barrel.
But i`l keep it anyway....... Someday i can do some profit ????? on it......

I`l keep it just becouse it´s an original..... In never seen a modell like this before.... In origninal....... or in a reprouduction......

So i`l think i`l keep it for a while.............

Steel Horse Bailey

Greetings, Hungry Wallace!

Your English is FINE.

By ALL MEANS, keep that jewel of a rifle.  Treasure it and keep it for your children or grandchildren.  They will love you for it!  If I were you, I would consider getting the correct length stock to put it back to the original length.  It is the same as money in the bank!

Welcome to CAS City!

Curley Cole

HW,

Sorry my pard Old Top misunderstood you. He has the Taylors Reproduction. Our pard Cole Harbour has an original as you have. His is in 32/20. He got pistols to go with it.

You might check Dixie Gun Works for a stock for your gun. They have lots of replacement parts.

If you are interested you can look at my web page. Under "just for fun", I have some cowboy pix. I do a bit of photography for fun, and a few dollars here and there..

Hi, Hungry Wallace
If you have dealers in Sweden who sell the Armi Sport rifle (same as Taylors) you should be able to get a stock from them. Also the Rossi stock might fit. Rossi rifles are easily available in Germany. If you have any difficulty let me know as I may be able to get one for you and ship it from the UK.
Where are you in Sweden? We have some friends in Trelleborg. Four years ago we visited High Chaparral and enjoyed it. Maybe we'll come back someday.

Chance

Cuts Crooked

Wallace,

Yer english is better than some of us who use it daily!  Don't worry about that!

Seems like I recall Brownells had stocks for original 92s at one time. Might do a web search for Brownells and see what you can find there.

John WAYNE!?!?!?!   Not bein' American I guess you can be forgiven! ;) He was the greatest Hollywood Cowboy to ever grace the Silver Screen! He nearly always protrayed the epitome of what Cowboy legands should be. (Do another web search for John Wayne, you'll be entertained if nothing else! ;D ) In fact one of the best movies he ever did was "The Shootist" in which he portrayed an aging gunfighter who was dying of cancer...and John was actually dying of cancer when he made the movie! Now that's a tuff Cowboy! :'(

I´ll thank you all for the help you been giving me.

Chance..... I´ll visit High Chaparral every year att july 4. Theres a lots of contents ther then. Fast draw and stuff.
I´ll live about 150 km up north from Trelleborg. A town caled Karlstad.

I made a BIG misstake in my last post.   Its not a Boito 1887........ Its a Norinco in 1887  :-[
I´m waithing for a Boito Coachgun.......

See Ya
