Howdy to the camp,

Geberal Grant at EMF is sending me an antiqued 1875 5 1/2" 45 Colt to do an article on.  It is coming with the optional lighter hammer spring.  I guess I will have to shoot it for a LONGGGGG time to evaluate it properly <g>!

Must suck to be you, always getting these new guns to try out. I would like to offer my services to you to lessen your troubled burdened life.
I am sure this particular gun may need a years review by you alone, and maybe 40 to 50 years of really hard shooting service prior to making any conclusions whether it is worth its weight in Gold by me too.
After your done , please ship it to me and I will get it back to you when I see how long the rifling lasts in an 1875 , okeedokkeeeeee ? I reckon that would be 50 years of daily shooting I am thinking ??? Only my test will confirm this you know ?

Yours Truly, get well soon, I am soooo sorry your life has become this hard.

Sincerely, Stacey Lee ;D

Yep, succks to be me.  I wish I got them for free to keep. but alas, I either have to send them back or pay for them.  Got the Remmie last night.  Great gun.  I probably won't be able to afford to keep it when I am done, though.  If anyone is interested in it, PM me. It will be an excellent deal!

Howdy to the camp.

My wife has been gone with the digital camera.  She is back, so I will try to get some pics this weekend.

I love it!  iT shoots point of aim at 10-15 yards with both 250 Colts and 230 Schofields (both BHA).  Before the lightened spring was in I got 1 1/4 inch groups off hand at 10 yards. I put the light spring in and it is awesome.  Lightened the trigger pull to 2 lbs!  Shot clean and dea on deulist at last sunday's match.

I am supposed to be getting a 7 1/2" blued 1875 also for the article.  It will be "choose your flavor" talking about 1875 finishes, calibers, barrel length, etc.

I found that mine with short barrels are just as accurate as with the long barrels. These pistols are just accurate. Period. Looking forward to hearing your take on the other one when it arrives.

Howdy,

They are accurate!

You know, those Remmies look good with that 1866 carbine!.  I am getting an 1866 Border rifle (20" octagona)l in 44-40 to do an article on.  Might have to keep it to replace the Henry instead of buying the Century Ltd. like I planned.  I don't know.  Tough choice!

I was lucky and picked a now discontinued '66 musket model.  I love that thing.  To this day I wish I had picked up a '73 winchester musket as well.  I had a shot at one from Brazil or some other South American country back in 2000 that I passed on, and then Uberti stopped making them not long after that.

Thanks, the 66 was a sweet deal, got it when I was regestering the Remmies NIB for $690. (I won the pair and holsters  at GBJL, bought ONE ticket from Happy Trails. The holsters are Wil Ghormley, and worn by Brad Pitt while preparing for the Jessie James movie, He wore others in the movie, and I think he wore them butt foward...) So, ya could say I got the whole rig for $10.00 pretty good deal..

Very cool Curly.  Gromley makes some good stuff.  Hopefully he makes a full recovery.  I haven't been to his site in a while, so I am not too sure on his recent progress.

I haven't been to his site lately either. I do know the arthritis that I suffer from has him in a bigger "knot" I do know he is still donating his work to Happy Trails Childrens Foundation. Last October HT was raffleing off a "Frank James" Rig with a 75 Remington with lanyard ring. (it would have gone real well with my JJ rig. I even bought a bunch more tickets, but alas my luck had run dry. But, I surely can't complain. 2 guns and a Ghormley rig for $10 is a deal in any saloon..
