What were those Island Girls like? ;D Just saw the Cowboys episode with you and the Marshal at Tequila's Cowboy 101. Looks like you did well. Now I can put a voice with a picture.................Buck 8) ;)
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

The Islnad Girl pistols are great!  They come from the factory ready to shoot and compete and they are priced reasonable.

Yeah I know I'm not Marshal'ette but I have handled and shot the Island Girl pistols and I do know that Island Girl is shooting those now rather than her Colts.  I also know that she took first place Ladies overall at the New England regional with them and that she was 19th overall and first lady overall at Mason Dixon Stampede with them.

She's a great lady - I really enjoyed shooting with her and Cammie and the rest of that NC gang at NE Regional - especially when Kill'em All Kate told the Norseman that he talked funny in her heaviest southern accent.  We still laugh out loud about that!  A great lady should have great guns fashioned after her!
...and she rides into the SMOKEY sunset on her favorite, half-fast horse, Totally Clueless    Thanks Arcey, Tensleep, Wildcat Will and Querida Kate!!!

Cammie gave you some good scoop on the guns..
But I can tell you in my own words that " They are Sweeeett".
Smooth firing and and a light and easy trigger pull. I really like them.

But my favorite to shoot is my rifle... the 1873 Winchester. It was used on the show too. Most wanted to shoot my rifle, and I can understand why. It is so smooth wonderful ...and yeah.. it has a 'short stroke'.
I luuuvvv it!  :) I mean I REALLY LUV IT! lol
Marshal got kind of a hoot out of me when it comes to my rifle.

Since I am a hunter, we were always taught early to baby our guns and to lay them down gently, and to NOT get any dings or scratches in them. Use them, but take extra care of them too.
Well, my rifle has all the rawhide on it and it is all slicked up to boot, so everyone liked the way it looked , plus the way it shot. OK.. I can understand..... and I am the first one to share my "stuff".
But the first time I saw my "baby" being kind of tossed down on the bare wooden window of the stage, I about had an internal heart attack! I didn't say anything.
I had to watch  2 others use my gun before I got to it to "inspect it".
I grabbed up Marshal and drug him over to the side and was so over-wrought whispering frantically about how everyone was just ..like... dropping this gorgeous gun on the bare wood and it was going to get all scratched up and dinged up and why couldn't they lay it down to move on to the next stage  and on and on and on.. I am sure that he thought he had been caught in box with a barking Chihuahua.
He stayed calm.. ( I could see he was trying NOT to smile or laugh ) which only further rattled me all up...
But he told me that these guns were made to be used. That they looked more authentic with the "marks of use"  and it was okay ..that when it was my turn to shoot with the timer going, I would most likely do the same thing and that it was ok..

He was right... Although I DID lay it down a bit more gently than the others... or tried to... But that damned timer was running, sooooooooooooo........maybe I didn't.
Anyway.. I am "kind of" over the sucking in my breath and shuddering , when my "baby" gets used a bit rough.
But deep down I still  cringe a bit..
I don't have to worry about my Island Girls.. I baby them to the max too.
Hard habits are just too hard to break I guess.:-\

Marshal'ette...the first time that I actually "threw" a gun down on a table and took off I ended up pausing because I was so pleased with myself that I got over the "baby your gun thing" that I could hardly stand it.

I still cry over the scuff marks on stocks and forearms but I grin at the same time.

I have to agree with you gals I hate just throwin them down on bare boards in some stages, but yeah when the timer is runnin and then when you finish and you have a quick glance over the scorers shoulder and it was a quicky.......... the grinnin starts and the dings just seem to fade away :D :D

Like you Marshal'ette my main match rifle is a '73 in 44-40 and is a real sweetie and served me very well, but I recently managed to pick up a 30year old '66 carbine in .38.
This little carbine was as new and had maybe 20 shots thru it in all those years and with a little smoothing and TLC here and there it is starting to really perform, I love it but took a little getting used to after the 24" rifle all this time but I think it's quicker !! :D :D

Regards..................Texas Tall. ;) ;)
