Hello SSS,

I've heard there are problems when ordering Spencers...demand too great for the available supply of Spencers imported from Armi-Sport and made available from either Cimarron or Taylors.
So, would you please respond to the following questions?

(1) How long did it take you to get delivery on your Spencer, once ordered from the two main importers/distributors, Cimarron and Taylors?
(2) How long it took to get your Spencer?
(3) Which Spencer model did you order, rifle or carbine?
(4) Which caliber did you order?
(5) What was the quality of the fit & finish of the Spencer you received?

Your input would be very much appreciated either on this thread or to me personally at fsgrand2@fairpoint.net.

I ordered my Spencer from Cimarron on 22 Dec, 2006, recieved it 9 Feb 2007- so about a month and a half (I was told I would have a 3 month wait).
I ordered the carbine, in 56-50, and the only fault with the fit or finish was a littlr larger than necessary inletting on the saddle ring bar.

I ordered my Spencer, a .56-.50 carbine, from Cimarron, on 11 May 2006, and picked it up the day it arrived: 23 May. I think that Taylor's had the .56-.50 carbines in stock for immediate shipment at that time, too.

The quality of the fit and finish is quite excellent, and remarkable for a gun of this type in the $1,000 price range. The personnel at the gun store even commented on it. Inletting is first-rate with no gaps at all, the wood has beautiful figure and is very nicely finished, and the metal work, polish, and case hardening leave nothing to be desired. It was a true pleasure to receive a gun that exceeded my expectations.  :) The only "fault" was a lack of lubrication in some areas; but I expect to clean and properly lubricate any new gun I acquire.

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

My 56-50 carbine came from Taylor's in Mid-December, 2006 in 3 days.

Service was excellent.  In fact, she worked out a deal with me and the dealer so that I saved money and the dealer make more than his $35.00 handling fee.  We were both happy.

Fit, finish, wood, action, etc were all superb.  Shipping was in a very heavy duty box.  Total experience was excellent.

The day I picked it up the shop was packed.  When I opened the box and took it out it caused quite a commotion.  I let it pass around.  Most had never seen anything like it.

Thanks

David

   Greetings!

My FFL received my Spencer Infantry Rifle, 56-50-CF, the day after I'd placed my order. The fit & finish is very good; I couldn't ask for more for the price... Except a slower rifling twist!!!

   Be Well, All!
