Howdy Cuts,

The new EPP-UG and the DD/ROA will both work in the 58s.  Both have thin driving bands and deep lube groves.  They each can be sized all the way down to .451.

I lube/size mine to .454 for my ROAs and that seems just right for a nice interference fit.  Easy to load and they won't back out, even with a heavy powder charge.

Thing is, we found the new 58 from Pietta to have too small chambers for the barrel.  Walt Kirst is goin' to ream out the chambers in the C&B cylinder to match the barrel size.  This gun will shoot the EPP-UG and the DD/ROA just fine as it is with the new Kirst Konverter cylinder and either Cowboy 45 Special or 45 Colt brass.  The bullets would be lube/sized to .454 before handloading the ammo.  Silas and I can both run the same ammo.  He in his 58 or his ROA and me with my brace of ROAs.

If yer thinkn' of runnin' the new bullet in yer C&B cylinder, it might be best to mike it first and slug the barrel.  I doubt that our experience was unique to 58s.

Both molds are in stock.  The EPP-UG drops at .4555 and the DD/ROA drops at .456.  The EPP-UG weighs 150 grains and the DD/ROA weighs 210 grains.

Hope this helps.

All I want to know is will the new boolit werk in the Remmies? If so I will be ordering a mold!

BTW, I have taken a deer with a C&B pistola in cap gun configuration. Won't do it again, not enuff umph there! I have also taken a couple with the Kirst cylinder in my Remmie. That's a whole different story! 8)

I bet with a stout load (NOT MAX. OR OVER IT, LET'S BE SAFE) with either a round ball, conical or a Big Lube boolit out of one of those '58 revolver carbines would up the energy enough for small to medium deer.  Anyone know how much velocity increase an extra 16 inches of barrel would be good for?

Of all the things I've lost over the years, it's my mind that I miss the most!

I take in my 58 Remington .454 RB with 25grains Swiss2 (fffg).
Swiss Bp burns faster and cleaner than GOEX.You can reduce your load 10%-15% from GOEX to Swiss. But i learned as a muzzleloader that Swiss is a little bit expensive in the States. And here in Germany i got some problems to buy GOEX.
