Howdy to the Camp,
I was reading an article about the war between Paraguay, Argentina, and Brazil from 1864- 1868, and apparently the Brazilian Cavalry units were re- equiped with Spencers in 1867.  Anybody know anything about that? ???

Hi Matt45,

I found this book and pages as a possible answer to your question.

or, if you go to the link below it will take you to where there is another reference to the Spencer Carbine.  If you click on the link and go to the page shown, by using the arrows at the top, you could read the whole book entitled, Letters from the Battle-fields of Paraguay, by Sir Richard Francis Burton

I am not sure I am interested in the conflict enough to order the book.  The article I was reading was in one of the 1992 MHQ's, and it was specific re; Brazil, but you know how some folks figure a gun is a gun.  In regards to our beloved Spencer, I wonder if any are still kicking around down there. Thanks for the info ;D
