MONGO-AZ

Hello y'all

A successful trip to the gun store this morning turned up an antique Springfield 1884 .45-70 - orginally an Infantry rifle cut down to a carbine. Mechanically excellent, springs sound, trigger breaks great, firing pin floats good. What I need is a rear sight and buttplate - anyone know of a good source for such? Please let me know - thanks.

If you want it to "be a carbine" you probably should consider a carbine rear sight. You could restore it to its original configuration as a rifle by replacing the barrel and adding the necessary wood to extend the forearm.

I think I'll keep it as a carbine for k=now. Got a line on a buttplate - so good to go there. I would not be adverse to a carbine sight, as long as it fits the screw holes. Anyone got a line on one?
