I recently purchase a Cimarron 1851 R-M conversion.  Beautiful gun, but it has some sharp edges on the front of the recoil plate. Where the gate pin plugs into the plate there is a bulge just above the gate spring.  This bulge is sharp and tearing up my holster.  I'm left handed so it's probably more pronounced. The whole leading edge is kind of sharp.  I realize some emery paper would polish up this edge, but would this be a voiding of the warranty. I've noticed a lot of Uberti guns I've bought had some sharp edges.  Ususally they were in places that weren't a problem.  Big gouges in my holster ARE a problem.  Any suggestions?

I would think sending it back to Cimerron (was it a Cimerron?) would be the best thing. Even if not under warrenty, for a problem of quality, they most 'likely'  would correct it for free. If under warrenty, your in good shape.

Has a friend that had a honest to God Colt SAA,,,and two screw holes in the frame were stripped out,,brand new gun to.

If this was,,say a handbuilt flintlock, one could be upset with the craftsman. But factory guns,,any and all of them at times,,can come with problems. Thus the warrenty/shop.

Sometimes a company 'seeing' their own problems will prompt them to better quality control in the future. They actually LIKE to know when something is wrong. Its usually not the fault of the company, but one individual craftsman or Quality Contorl person that lets it slip by.

Thus, the factory would even appreciate knowing go of your problem.

I found, during my modern gun days, one company that would,,,put your handgun thur the custom shop if you had a problem,,,just as extra PR,,,was Smith and Wesson. I had Smiths with problems sure,,,,but they would go beyond what was necessary to fit it,,and even ehance it,,,while they had it back at the shop.

CIMARRON. Yes, send it back, they're interested in problems as the Preacher said. They want you to be happy. If you're not, you're likely to tell more people than if you are.
