legal hammer modifcation?

Does anyone know if it would be SASS legal to deepen and add a few cross grain notches on my hammers on my Gauchos to prevent my thumb from slipping off before coming to full cock? My Uberti's are checked much deeper and give my thumb a much better grip. I dont see it as an advantage, rather more of a safty thing.  I shoot gunfighter so im gripping and cocking with same hand....JB
