Anyone out there know where I can locate a previously owned 66 Yellowboy in .44 Spl? Want it to do a Winter project gun for next season with faux ivory stock with Mexican Eagle sculpted on side alla Porfirio Diaz. It needs to be 44 spl as that is my favorite caliber and they can be reworked to shoot 44 Colt.

Thanks ahead of time!

While you are at it, find two.

I need one as a companion to my S & W DA .44 (Russian).

Buffalo Arms has them new.

It will probably be much easier to locate a reasonably priced 66 carbine in .44-40 and have it converted to .44 Colt. The rear portion of the chamber needs to be cut off and the chamber re-cut for the straight wall .44 cartridge, plus possibly some minor adjustments to carrier and extractor. Through this process the barrel will be shortened by some .5" only. Had this job done to 73's and a Henry.
I'd love to see that PU ivory Porforio Diaz carbine, Gripmaker.

You do not have to cut the barrel back.  The chamber can be sleeved.  I am having a .44-40 Henry converted to .44 spl by Happy Trails.

Dusty Morningwood: You don't know how lucky you US cowboys are with your gun legislation. Sleeving the chamber would be considered an unappropriate procedere by German gun smiths. Our proof houses don't like the procedure either, unfortunately.

Howdy Bootsie.  That's too bad.  Until I started asking I did not know a sleeve could be installed.  Some gunsmiths will not do this.  I had a Swedish rolling block cavalry carbine (12.7x42R) that had a bubba-ized chamber.  Tried to get it sleeved and rechambered for .50-45, but could not get anyone to do it.  Sold the carbine.  Shoulda kept it.  :(
