Greetings. I am new to this site. I have been a SASS member for 10 or 15 years.

I have a question for those who make their own holstersand belts. I have just aquired a Campbell-Bosworth stitching machine.  I have been working with it for close to six weeks now without any success.   The tech support from the company in Texas is as best that they can provide over the telephone, without acually seeing the machine. I just can't get the machine set up to stitch properly. Is there anyone out there who may have a Campbell lock-stitch, needle and awl machine? I live in NJ so a road trip to Texas is out of the question. Any suggestions will be appreciated or anyone in my home state with experience on one of these machines.

Have you asked the manufacturer if they've sold one to anyone near you so you can pay them a visit? There must be a saddlemaker in your area with some experience on one of them. It won't hurt to ask. The other option is to see if they have a video or DVD that would help. Good luck, there.

Marshal:

Thanks for the reply. I have been on the phone with the manufacturer a dozen times or more. They have a manual, but it is very ambiguous.  A dvd would help, but that's a negative as well.  To the best of my knowledge, there are no harness makers here in NJ.  Campbell bought out Randal in March. They had been located in NY, but they packed everything up and moved to Texas. The owner told me the closest person (another customer of his) he could contact to help me out is in Pa near Pitsburg (6+ hrs. away).

Thanks again. Any ideas let me know.

Maybe a call to the guy in Pittsburg would net you a different explanation that would make sense to you.

Perhaps. The company owner was going to make an attempt to contact him on my behalf. Everything is closed for the holidays. I'll have to waite and see after the New Year,

Thanks for the info. I have heard of Burgess. I even have an old catalog of their products (he's not cheep). Anyway, I was able to figure out the problem by myself. The needle wasn't casting off the thread. I adjusted the needle and it is up and running.  I appreciate all of the feedback.
