Anyone know if Taylors has any Spencer rifles -not carbines- in stock.

Evening Gents,

Well have sold my carbine and now can purchase the rifle version I want and not sure if 56-50 or .44-40 would be the calibre to get. On the one hand the 56-50 would be closer to period correct, but I am not set up to reload at the present and the loaded ammo is WOOWWEE on the price. The .44-40 is readily available and a pleasure to fire, but not even close on the originality of the piece. Not sure which of the above bothers me most.

But to the original question: Has anyone spoken with Taylors in the past week or so about the rifle and if they have, are there any in stock? If they have any in stock, whatever calibre it is may make my mind up.

Taylor's has some 56-50 rifles in stock and at the old price.  The 44-40 rifles will not be in until late January and they along with the 56-50 will be at a higher price.  So if you want a 56-50 rifle you should buy it now.  If you want the 44-40 you will have to wait and it will cost you more.

Get the 56-50!!!!!!!!

I recently shot both Judge Hemp's 44-40 Spencer carbine and my 56-50 carbine this week end.  The 44-40 is cool, but the 56-50 is "an experience<g>!"  See my other post!  I chose the carbine over the rifle, as the re-enacting unit I will be joining in June when I move to Ill uses the carbine.  That's why I sold my rifle to Cannon Fodder.
