WOW!

What a gorgeous piece of work!  It is based on the new Uberti forged frame 1858, great action, and COOOOL!

As for price, it runs about the same as the standard Uberti Open Top or SAA clones.

This one did not have percussion cylinder, though that will be an option to order one withg an additional percussion cylinder.  I haven't had a chance to check and see if the percussion cylinder out of my forged frame 58 Uberti will fit.

The cylinder face is rebated to hold the entire case, including rims.

I will have to compare it to my personal photo of an original I handled, and the McDowell book to see how close it is.

It looks awesome with my Henry and with my Spencer Carbine.

IT'S A KEEPER!!!!

I will shoot it at a CAS match this coming Sunday with the River City Regulators in Yolo, CA

.38s are not in yet.  The .45 Coltsa are filing back orderss, so unkunown if or how many any will be left after the back orders filled.

I will post some pics this week.

It has moved into being my favorite pistol, modern or old!  It is so cool, I wanted to sleep with iot under my pillow, but I don't think my wife would understand<g>

Congrats, pard. Sounds like a quality item. It's good to hear that they did them right. They shouldn't have any trouble selling more once others see them. Thanks for the report.

I have compared it to the photos of the Remington conversions in the Mc Dowell book, and it is very close.  The majority of the .44 New Model Armies (aka: 1858) were converted with a thin recoil plate added.  It was mostly the Navies that had the thick style recoil plate and gate installed.  This actually is almost identical to the Navy style conversion, with a slight difference of design of loading gate. The ejector rod is about the same as the army model conversion.  Mc Dowell's book does show an original graphic of an advertisement for the .44 New Model Army conversion, however, with a thick plate gated conversion.

It is an exceptionally close copy, and certainly good enough for me.  It is at least as close as the R&D 2 piece cylinder conversions are (if not closer!)

Glad to hear everything is good to go with your new '58 Remington conversion.
If you get a chance, ....pictures would be great to see, especially the cylinder, recoil sheild & gate.

Also, I'd be curious to know what the cylinder chambers measure, and the barrel groove dia., too.

Have fun with her,......I'll bet Uberti done a good job. ;D

C'mon T.L., quit jacking around & post those photos!! Call in sick to work, tell the wife you're runnin' late, but POST THOSE PHOTOS!!!!!!!!!!  :D ;) ;D  Remember your allegiance to SCORRS!!! ;)  All in jest, my friend.  ;)

Oh yea, TL,.....what Fox Creek  said.

......and another question comes to mind,.....is it chambered for 5  rounds , or 6 by any chance?

cheers! ;D

This is a good question, I'll be interested to know the answer to that, too. I know my Kirst .38 cylinder is 6 rounds but the .45 ones are only 5 with a narrow little detent for the 6th spot to make them SASS legal. R&D is 6 rounds for both calibers.

The Uberti factory conversion i. 45 Colt I handled in September had a 6 rounds cylinder.
