.................Italy still.  ;D  Sorry, I thought the board needed some levity as I know most everyone is waiting on this beauty.

Grapeshot

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Major 2

Not funny !  :)

Reminds me of the Geico "caveman" commercials

However , in a recent (Nov, 9 ) email .... I'm told by Dec. 1 a shipment is due... per Valerie.
She is hopeful they are included.
She went on to say, I was 6th. on the list having ordered very early.

Now, I know I've never been that high on any list except the S**t list and then I'm usually 1st. !

Got mine yesterday in .44 Colt S/N X044xx from Uberti's German distributor HEGE, together with specially assembled iron frame Henry with black receiver in 44 Special. Cant wait to give the two pieces a proper work-out next Wednesday.

No, they don't, unfortunately: Appearantly a Thuer prototype existed once and and possibly the prototype of a drop-in cylinder with accessories. These were shown at major gunshows in the USA and Europe. They are still featured in the catalogues of some dealers over here. However, there exists no Thuer M 1860 or drop-in cylinder as a product for sale. This was confirmed by the Uberti people when I visited in Gardone in September.
If there were a good quality Thuer replica, like there are Richards II and R+M, I would want to have one. This would fill the gap in the Colt replicas between M 1860 Army and Richards II. The other model missing is the Richards Conversion (I) after the ill attempt of ASM a couple of years back.

Those ASM's were sure pretty, too bad they didn't work as well as they looked. Had my eye on the '61 in 5 1/2..............Buck 8) ::) :-\
I might be slow, but I'm mostly accurate.....

Bootsie, if you happen to have a regular RM in .44 Colt I wish you would share your observances as to dimensional differences between the two, please.

Long Johns Wolf

Fox Creek Kid - Will gladly compare the two I have in .44 Colt during the next days and check dimensions & interchangeability of major parts.
However, here is the statement of the Uberti Boss regarding this issue when we met in September: the Richards II got the frame/cylinder/grip assemply from the R+M, the barrel assembly is Richards (I).

Fox Creek Kid - It appears that the Uberti boss took a real top management view when he made his comments regarding the differences of RII and R+M. The comparison between my RII S/N X04444 manufactured probably 2005, and my R+M S/N X02711 manufactured 2002, both in .44 Colt is detailed below. Major parts, i. e. grips/frame, cylinder, barrel are interchangeable and the action functions, but:
grip/frame assembly: identical
forcing cone: R+M long, RII short
cylinder diameter: identical
cylinder length: R+M short, RII long (to accomodate .44 Colt in same overall length?)
gas ring: R+M long, RII short.
barrel o/a length: RII is 5 mm longer
The RII grip/frame will function with the R+M cylinder/barrel assembly and the R+M grip/frame will function with the RII cylinder/barrel. However, a RII grip/frame and barrel will not work with a R+M cylinder. Likewise a R+M grip/frame and barrel will not function with a RII cylinder.
If you let me have your email I will mail comparative pics!

Bootsie,

The early 1860 RM's ( I bought one of the first shipment in Sept. 2001) had the wrong breech cone, longer such as on the Open Top, and a shorter cylinder to compensate as well as a 7 1/2 in. barrel. I later bought a correct 8 in. barrel with the historically correct shorter breech cone (like a percussion 1860) as well as the correct longer cylinder as Uberti changed somewhere along the long to the correct dimensions. Is you RM like the earlier Uberti ones?

I will PM you my e-mail for the comparative pics. Vielen dank!!!!!!!

Fox Creek Kid

Bootsie, thanks for the great photos!!!!!!! Your RM is one of the early incorrect ones, like I had before I switched out the barrel & cylinder. It looks like Uberti made the Richards II on the same dimensions as the correct RM!!!!! :) :)  That begs the question as to the Type II that Dennis Adler had for the GOTW writeup.  ??? He said his has larger dimensions. Hmmm,......is Uberti making the .45 on a different frame & cylinder & the .44 Colt on the correct RM 1860 frame with correct cylinder?  ??? ??? This could be interesting.

Bootsie, why don't you post those beautiful photos here for all to share(?). That Type II is gorgeous!!!!!!! :o :P

Fox Creek Kid: thanks for your kind comments regarding the pics. Please, do me a favor if you can as I have these 2 left hands and I am just plain stupid to getting pics into the CAS system properly. Therefore, please be kind enough to share them with all the friendly cowgirls & cowboys of CAS City. OK?

I tried to post two photos that Bootsie sent me but alas, they must have been too large as the post didn't post (redundant ain't it?  ;D ). I talked w/ Bootsie today & he's going to try & post some photos if possible. Of course, more photos will only serve to torture us poor stooges here in the U.S.A. w/o a Type II !!! :'( :'(
