Dr. Bob

Good Morning to the Barracks,

Originally called Armistice Day, we now celebrate Veterans Day.  A time to remember all who have served their country.  Think of those who have served and those who are currently serving and pass on a kind word to those that you know.

To all who served and are serving our country and the cause of Freedom everywhere! God bless and keep you! Godspeed! To those who paid the ultimate price of Freedom: Thank you!
Ride to the sound of the guns, but watch out for bushwhackers! Godspeed to all in harm's way in the defense of Freedom! God Bless America!

Your obedient servant,

Guns Garrett

I often wondered if the Germans wished to cease hostile activities on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month so the fighting would be over before the Marines woke up, hungover from their 143rd Birthday celebration the night before.  Tuefelhunden tend to be a little testy after a night of partying, especially when exposed to loud noises.

US Scout

In Great Britain (and the rest of the Commonwealth if I'm not mistaken) its known as Remembrance Day.  I still wear the poppy that I received when visiting the UK in 1996 on this date.

Gen. Scout Sir,

Here in the Kansas City area I haven't seen poppies on sale for years.  Friends in Canada report that they are still available there.  They and my friend in the UK all call it Rememberance day.

I would prefer to return calling it Armistice Day, but then I am pretty much a traditionalist and not very Politicaly Correct [if I can help it  :o ;D ].
