Absolutely!  8)

Wouldn't it be great to have someone show up with BP shells and maybe two or three double front stuffers? ::)

Well now, been there done that ....

Knowing I was going to attend a shoot with some fliers I joined our local trap group one evening with my 1883 hammered double and my '87 Winchester.  There was some strange looks at my gear given that everyone else was shootin some pretty 'spensive trap guns but what I remember most is the exclaimations of awe when I let loose with the first round.  I was shooting in the fifth position so everyone else had already shot their first clay before me.  After the fourth shooter I jacked a BP shell into the '87 and called pull.  I missed the bird but not the "Sh**, what the he** was that?"  When I rotated to the first position, the shooter on my right held his ground for the first round of the second set but moved off the line before I fired any subsequent rounds.  After five sets of five birds per set I think I had managed to only hit six clays.  I did better the second time around when I hit 12 of 25 with a string of 8 in a row.

The practice didn't really help much though as I missed the only flier at the match.  I need a lot more practice as we will be setting up a stage with clays at our local CAS club.   Unfortunately the trap range is shut down for the winter now and I got lots of time to load up a bunch of shells so I'll be ready in the spring.

I have shot b/p with my 1888 L.C. Smith damascus sxs trap gun at my trap club and they really enjoyed the smoke and the boooom. But it's not appreciated at a registered ATA shoot.

I think the next time I go shoot a round of trap I going to have to take some bp rounds with me.  Now which shotgun should I take?  Should I take my 311 with its 28 inch barrels or take my hammered coachgun?  I think I might take my coachgun.
