Hello,

Looking at getting a some Uberti 1858s for CAS.  What ball size in .44 works best?

Thanks!

Howdy Alaskan.........best thing to do is get your 1858s first, then slug the barrels to check see what the groove diameter is, and get some roundball at or just over the groove dia.

I have an Uberti 5.5" '58 Rem with a .456 groove dia., so I picked up a Lyman 2 cavity round ball mold in .457 size. I had trouble finding .457 round ball at my regular gun shop, so I bought the mold,..it's fun & not hard making your own bullets if you happen to have or can get a lead melting pot. ;D

My Ubertis like the .454s, either commercial or cast from my LEE DC mold.
