In a fit of madness, i bought an old army repro remington, minus cylinder for next to nothing.
I figured I could find a cylinder. Well, it didn't occur to me that different Mfg.s would have different dimensions.
The revovler has very few markings, on the bottom of the barrel is "518 DGG-- For Black Powder Only-
Made in Italy"
Under the grips is 518 on left side and NUOVA on the right. I don't see any letters in a box or PN proofs.
DGG is now Euro arms, correct?
Would a Pietta cylinder fit?
thanks

OK, I tried a cylinder that came in a box marked FAP. I'm guessing this is Pietta?
Anyway, it was too long. Are uberti cylinders shorter?

Tubac................yes, DGG is the initials of Armi San Paolo's  (presently Euroarms) founders,...Grassi, Doninelli, and Gazzola.

Generally , the Uberti cylinders are interchangeable with the ASPs / Euroarms, but you may have to install a new hand to fine tune for smooth cycling  of the cylinder, especially if the hand in the ASP/Euroarms frame is shorter in length from wear. But definitely the Pietta cyl. is longer than the Uberti, and will not work in the Euroarms frame.
Good luck.  :)

A Uberti cylinder will it the ASP it's a .001" or so shorter. And the Pietta will fit and work in the ASP if you lap down the chamber end of the cylinder an few thou. S&S should be more than able to help you out. That ASP 1858 is the same size as an Original Remminton 1858 rev... I had the chance to compare them at a local Gunshop. It's one a my favorite Mfg.
