I took the gripframe off my Uberti 45 Dakota to do some work on the grips, after i figured the new grips weren't gonna work and i cut the one piece grip in half to try to match up to the others :-\, i went to put it back together.I had takin the screws out and just placed them in a cup.All went back in smoothly except the very front one that attaches on the front of the frame in front of the trigger guard, did i say front,.
Do the screws all have to go back in the same hole they came out of?I can't get the last one to thread all the way down.won't flush down.?????Or should i maybe try to redo with all of them loose then snug down? :-[

Thanks for any sugetions.. :P

the screws esp. in the older repiical aren not all the same size. In fact when Old Top got the 1860 grips from Alchimestia, the screws didn't fit. The bottom of the backstrap was completly different. So we got them directly from Alchimestia..

take them all out and compare them...then try them in the holes one at a time, be careful not to mess them up.

On all the Colts and clones I've seen, the two rear triggerguard screws and the two upper backstrap screws are all identical, the front triggerguard screw has a shorter head, and the screw in the butt of the grip can vary quite a bit from one model to the other.  You probably put the front triggerguard screw in one of the other holes, so the one that you put in front has too tall of a head to go flush with the triggerguard.

What Abilene Said.  Take all the screws back out, look for the screw(s) with the smaller (short) head.  Short head goes in in front of the trigger guard and maybe in the grip frame.  Larger (tall) head goes in the back of the grip triger guard frame and top of the grip frame.

Oh, and yes, you did.  But fixable.
