Since my shoulder is gone, has anyone ever seen a Boss powered with any means other than an arm.  I've been trying to figure something out, but mechanics isn't my strong suit.  It's that 90 degree swing that has me stumped.  I've been wondering about something like a garage door motor.  Ay Ideas???

Uncle Chan

Can it be modified to be used via a foot lever of some kind?

Slowhand Bob

Marshal Will and I actually talked a bit in fun about this recently.  Tippmanns solution was the AeroStitch and it seems to have failed misserably, though the machine could have been passable(but over priced).  Tippmann should have devoted much more resources into helping the customer understand the machines operation.  I actually learned more about the Aero from my Toro manual than I did from what Tippmann supplied.  Another problem Tippmann must face is the flood of Chinese machines that have arrived and are as cheep or cheeper than the BOSS.
At any rate I have $8,000 in sewing machines and can not get any of them to run out one decently stitched holster.  What they have done is used enough of my time to allow two seperate hand surgeries and enough of an easing of my arthyrightous to allow some hand sewing again.  Daddy once told me that the only machine I would ever be able to operate would be a shovel but by golly when I get caught up I'm gonna figure them auto-stitchers out!!!!!
As to your problem, some sort of spring loaded sling/pully system for foot operation might be do-able but I wouldnt waste to much time trying to get fancy.  I have gotten better service from the little BOSS than my other two machines combined but it is what it is.

DISCLAIMER:  Please do not consider any of my rants as being aimed at TORO or Tippmann but rather I blame my own dirt farmer mentality.  UHHHH perhaps the makers should realise that many of us did not come up as apprentises in mechanised leather shops though.

I'm afraid my knowledge of the Tippmann can be put in one of those little perfume bottles. That said, the foot-pedal idea sounds like the way I would be tempted to approach it. If you do figure out a way to do it, please post pictures for us.

I tried foot power, but the action required is equal at least to the action needed.  No way to turn a short throw to a long throw.

I can't believe there are no wild eyed inventors out there!!!

The Tippmann Boss is a leather stitcher that has a handle like a slot machine, the hande swings through a 90 degree arc, down to stitch and up to finish the stitch.  That's the rub, finding something with that travel which can be controlled without wearing out the operator.
