Howdy,
Has anybody been using APP in .45 S&W? I have been loading it in .45 Colt with 200 gr. RNFP with good results. Wanted to try it in my .45 S&W Open Tops and wondered if anybody has had good results and how much APP was used? Thanks.

Yes, I occasionally load .45 S&W for my Pard who shoots a Schofield copy in SASS.
I use APP FFFg a-fillin' the case to what is 1/8" less'n clear full.  The bullets are 200 gr SWC or RNFP.
Great accuracy!!!  Recoil is not bad at all.
But they oughta be cleaned fairly often.  Once inna while crap gets under the extractor.  That'll hang ye up.

My findin's only.
Your results may vary.

Loading APP is simple and the same regardless of what cartridge you use it in.   Simply fill the case to the point that the seated bullet SLIGHTLY compresses the charge.  You're done.   2F or 3F are fine.
That's the beauty of real BP or most subs.  You don't need loading data.

I've used 777 and APP in .45 Schofield.  I've loaded 15 grains with the backer rod with a 200 grain bullet and it did great on CAS type shooting.

Thanks for all the help guys. I will just continue loading the .45 S&W like I was with the .45 Colt.
